The Indian Motorcycle event truck and staff rode into the Black hills for the 68th annual Sturgis Rally. Tens of thousands of people got the chance to see the first production Indian Chief Motorcycles that recently rolled of the line in Kings Mountain, NC.

Indian Motorcycle staff was on hand to answer questions and pass out limited edition 2008 Sturgis pins. The response to the motorcycles, apparel, and accessories was amazing. People were excited to see the new PowerPlus 105 Engine, vintage paint schemes, and the bike with VIN #001. Indian riders came by to show their support and had full access to the truck including access to the observation deck located on top of the trailer.

It was encouraging to hear “We’re glad your back” and the “bikes are beautiful” from thousands of fellow riders.  Sturgis is the first of many events in which Indian Motorcycle will be displaying. Keep checking www.indianmotorcycle.com for updated event and demo ride information.

Re: Sturgis 2008

The Power Plus 105 is beautiful - you have to see it in person; pictures do not do it justice. Overall, the Chief is beautiful and it fits a guy who is over 6 feet tall. Harley does not make a bike that fits a person over 5'10 comfortably - that's not a shot at Harley, just a fact . The colors of the Chief are great, the leather is beautiful and high quality. Three items that need to be on the Chief before I buy: Cruise Control, ABS Brakes and a Leather Trunk the size of the one on the Ultra Classic. As soon as these are available, my Road King Classic is for sale! I do have one question/concern. The price is a big ? I understand all the chrome, but I think the bikes are $6,000 to $8,000 high. I truely want Indian to succeed, but with starting prices where they are, a lot of market share is NOT available. Best wishes on a great future!

Looking great guys,

looking forward to the first independent review from the press, and really looking forward to the time that they arrive in the UK.

Excellent,

Re: Sturgis 2008

I didn't make it to Sturgis this year, but I'm keeping an eye on Indian. I own a 2000 Chief. I drive it as much as I drive my Harley. The retro look is what prompted me to purchase mine. I do agree with "Terry" from previous note, I miss the Cruise control and leather trunk when traveling, especially the trunk ,a lot! I've recently put on a side car with a matching paint scheme so my lady can learn to drive it with a bit more stability than two wheels. (After all we are over 50 now). Since their is no dealer in my area any longer, I have to rely on Harley-Davidson to help with the maintenance. I have one close that is very good, and very helpful, but even they seem to have difficulty getting information to assist them in certain issues. I forwarded the N.C. phone number onto them, hope it works as I and my lady enjoy my Indian Chief bike. Pretty cool to have the Harley and the Indian side by side. Keep the Indian going strong, I look forward to seeing more of them on the road.

I didn't make Sturgis but I did make the unveiling at Cook's Corner this Sunday. Simply amazing. The machines are great. I'm looking forward to having mine delivered!

Re: Sturgis 2008

The apparel needs to be redesigned. The Logo goes on the BACK!!! That's the way it's always been. Please fix this on your next line of apparel. Thanks. RedIndian fm Oklahoma

Re: Sturgis 2008

Like the new bikes and am glad to see this is for real.I'm hopeing to see from the new indian motorcycle company parts and accessories for the gilory models.30,000 - 35,000 seems a little steep to me for a new bike but i wish you luck.

Re: Sturgis 2008

We were camped less than a half block from your trailer at Sturgis, which made for a lot of trips to look at the new bikes. The new bikes are very impressive. The chrome, the quality, the finished product was stunning. Everything was great until i looked at the price. These bikes are priced out of my range. I hope the new company does well and i wish them best of luck. My dream of owning a new Indian will be just a dream as long as i can buy 2 Harleys for the price of one Indian.

Re: Sturgis 2008

If you want to see pics there are some on the HD forum, shows the trailer with all the bikes out and people looking over the new product line.

Re: Sturgis 2008

Nice bike, price highfor he current economy in the USA, I'll have to wait for the "Spirit", hoping that the weight will be lighter. We all know a how a Harley handles under sudden "Breaking Conditions" in real traffic...

Re: Sturgis 2008

If anyone wants to see some video of the '09s when they were in California, check out my YouTube site: http://www.youtube.com/user/blackstarpics
I went to both Cook's Corner and Indian Motorcycle Corona, and the bikes were well received at both locations by everyone but people who couldn't separate their egos or insecurities from their objectivity.
The bikes [look] incredible by any standard. If ride as well as they look, the new company truly deserves to claim ownership of this historical marque.

Re: Sturgis 2008

What about the Gilroy orphans 1999-2003. no parts, unwanted, unloved except by all those dedicated owners.
If you want to make money, just go into production making those parts for the Gilroys.......they are in big big demand...

Factory tour on 4OCT2008

I'm hoping to go and hear first hand (and see for myself!) how $40K for a Chief Vintage on the road is justified. But from the pics and the publicity, the new Indian operation looks great!

What do you think about an inline 4 model ?

Re: Sturgis 2008

Think..Biker...(HardCore Biker circa 1970)....and put the logo on the back of ALL the Dude's shirts, sweaters, etc. Real bikers know the basics from back in the days when T-shirts with logos for Bikes first came out. Nice lookin' bike fellas. Keep up the good work. RedIndian fm Oklahoma

Re: Sturgis 2008

Nice bikes, but priced out the average guys range. Was that the plan?

By Jeff in Va. on  11/3/2008 2:12 PM

Re: Sturgis 2008

Can't wait till u get your start up costs recovered so we can see some better pricing on the apparrel . If the quality of the bikes is great then we won't mind paying the cost there...
